Mendel centre and museum, Brno
www.mendel-museum.orgMendel’s life and work have been the subject of many historical studies, but not everyone may know that his Abbey at Brno, Czech Republic, is being extensively restored, with a major new exhibition housed in it. There is also an extensive associated educational programme.
David Cooper and Peter Harper had the pleasure of visiting the Museum in April 2005, as part of plans to form an exhibition showing Mendel’s relevance to human genetics. Within easy reach of both Vienna and Prague, travelling geneticists and historians will find the Museum and the Abbey make a rewarding visit, both scientifically and culturally.
